boof. slang.
Boofing refers to the raising of a kayaker's knees, while applying the final
paddle stroke, when approaching a waterfall at speed. This technique is used
to avoid submerging the kayak by ensuring it lands flat when it hits the base
of the waterfall. The term is derived from a sound that is sometimes created
when executing the maneuver.
