Third
LVM Premier held September 2006
On
September 14, Pikes Peak Whitewater Club held our third successful
LVM premiere. Thanks to all who came out. We had more than 50 people
hear Andre and Jed tell some Daniel stories from the days of the
Riot bus and see the LVM 20th anniversary issue rough cut.
Daniel
Crow was the happy winner of the IR X Jacket dry top. The drawing,
sponsored by John Grace, saw 14 people subscribe to LVM for a total
of 21 subscription years, (7 of the 14 subscribed for 2 years).
That was outstanding, thanks to all who subscribed. You've just
joined the group who look forward to finding each issue of LVM in
their mailbox 4 times a year. In addition to the new subscribers,
nine LVM DVD's were purchased during the evening.
Based on our track record with 3 successful LVM premieres, we
will plan to have premieres twice a year. Our group can expect to
get a first look at the next LVM before it is ready for distribution.
Our next premiere will likely be in late May 2007.
We also heard a special message to PPWC from Tommy Hilleke about
the premiere.
Tommy's Message to PPWC
Greetings guys and gals of the PPWC,
Thank you all for coming out to another premier; this is a special
issue, dedicated to Daniel. It only shows a tiny fraction of his
life. I can't tell you guys the impact that Daniel had on my life
personally.
He
was such a giant in all walks of life. Always on top of it with
his business, technology, taking care of friends, whatever. Daniel
either had the answer or he would find it. The definition of multitasker;
He had a uncanny ability to get things done. Be it LVM, magazine
articles, or planning a first descent. He had so many ideas that
seemed radical at first that he would pull off. He was amazing and
there will never be another one like him.
And
then there was the kayaking. On the river I often accused him of
being a drifter and a floater. This was because of his effortless
style and love for plugging the meat. Anywhere that Daniel has paddled
it is almost a guarantee that he ran the steepest creeks at the
highest water with the least portages. In Colorado he did it in
a Glide.
Daniel DelaVergne... this is a bit impossible, to let you guys
get to know him in a few paragraphs. Or even an entire issue of
LVM. Although it is dedicated to him, this issue is more of a reflection
of the past five years, 20 issues, of LVM. Enjoy and we'll see you
next issue.
